System Password after Bios update (Lenovo G40-70 Model 80GA)

2016-12-04, 19:14 PM

Hello! My wifi stoped working and I updated all drivers and it didn't work. Then for the last thing I've updated the bios from 9acn28ww to 9acn32ww from the site. It went OK, but now that I try to acess the setup I'm prompted by a system password I didn't set earlier, it was empty.

It came with Windows 8 installed, but I was using Windows 7 with MBR partition and now I can't configure to Legacy and nothing... Is there any default password like "password" ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi tmichelca ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per hardware manual (page 24) :

Attention: If the user HDP has been forgotten, check whether a master HDP has been set. If it has, it can be used for access to the hard disk drive. If no master HDP is available, neither Lenovo nor Lenov authorized service technicians provide any services to reset either the user or the master HDP, or to recover data from the hard disk drive. The hard disk drive can be replaced for a scheduled fee.

There is no default password to use here but if what you are saying would be one of the rare event similar to this discussion removing the battery (ac charger unplugged and pressing down the power button for 12 seconds) and reseting and cmos lock (CMOS location: JCMOS1 on the motherboard) may help, otherwise call in technical support for assistance in such event.

Hope this help answer your query.

Update us how it works best for you.

Regards
