Re: Upgrading of Lenovo G580

Hi ShinoYumi ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Similar to your upgrade query on this article and this post

As your Intel Celeron 1005M would also have same 988B rPGA socket as Intel Celeron B830 @1.80GHz. Current CPU have different upgrade possibilities but try to match your choice with the accepted FRU parts (example: i5 3210M ) from the product specification sheet and the hardware manual list (item 11 page 101) to prevent unsupported CPU error.

You would need to update your BIOS to the latest as needed.

Specification for the RAM :

8GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3*, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets  (hardware manual FRU list item 15 page 102 as OEM recommended but to as strict as the CPU parts).

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

Re: Upgrading of Lenovo G580

Hi ShinoYumi ,

Greetings.

The Corsair RAM would work considering the same specs but not quite sure with the CPU as it is a retail version . CPU upgrade may or may not work if you are not to use the OEM FRU number as listed on the hardware manual due to whitelist.

Before any purchase , check for return options to be on the safe side.

Regards
