Volume function keys work but volume bar not visible

Hi everyone,
I had the hard drive replaced recently in my G580 (Windows7) and everything is perfect except this one thing. I use the Volume: FN/down and FN/up a lot. It's very awkward that I can't see the volume setting any more. I know I can use the volume control in the tray but that is too slow to use in a live muic situation.
btw the Fn/brightness also works but doesn't show the settings.

Is this a setting that has gone awry that I can easily change?

I've seen posts about the FN not working at all but nothing about it owrking but just not being visible.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Volume function keys work but volume bar not visible

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. I was up to date with the energy management. When I installed the Lenovo Utility exe it appeared to install OK but it required a re-start and once that had happened - nothing. It didn't open automatically and I don't know where it is to run it. I've searched name:lenovo and name:utility but neither found it.

Re: Volume function keys work but volume bar not visible

Hi again,

Lenovo utility will not reflect anywhere, you can check its status in Programs & Features whether its installed or not.

And also I'll suggest you to uninstall both Lenovo Energy Management & Lenovo Utility.

Then only try installing this Lenovo Energy Management & check for the functionality of Hotkeys.

I hope the above information helped you.

Please feel free to post in Lenovo Community Forums if you have any further queries!
