W1ZAQMXWQ-8MKSW4 Final Result Code after Hardware Scan

After running my hardware scan for my Lenovo laptop, I got a final result code message:

Hardware scan has detected one or more failures.
Reference the error code below when contacting Lenovo support at http://www.lenovo.com/eticket

Date run: 2/22/2017 10:38 AM
Device: ST500LT012-1DG142 - 465.76 GBs

Specifically, the view log pointed out SMART Short Self Test, SMART Drive Self Test and Targeted Read Test to have failled a "test". Does anyone know what this information means? What should I do to ensure that this problems can pass the test?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.


This kind of S.M.A.R.T (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology; often written as SMART) test errors occurs only when there is issue with system HDD (Hard Disk Drive) or SSD.


The SMART Self-Test Unit means that the diagnostic utility failed to read some certain sectors on the drive and predicted an imminent HDD failure.


If with the test you did you are getting a SMART test or a smart short test failure then I believe you need to back up your data and be ready to replace the drive.


I would recommend contacting Lenovo service centres for further assistance.
