Will upgrading to ssd void my warranty?

Hi All,

I will be buying a Lenovo G505 one of these days.

I would like to know if I change the HDD to an SSD myself, will it void the warranty?

Thank-you

Re: Will upgrading to ssd void my warranty?

hi ColtU,

Welcome to the Lenovo FOrums.

AFAIK, an HDD upgrade will not void the warranty but you may not be able to get support if something goes wrong with the upgrade (i.e. OS won't load or install, some proprietary lenovo softwares won't work, etc.).

Also, depending on the place where you purchased the unit, some stores put a warranty sticker on the screw slots so any signs of tear will automatically void the warranty.

Regards
