b490 - BIOS ONLY ACCESSIBLE IN UEFI

2015-03-19, 4:55 AM

I recently installed Win 8.1 in a brand new SSD to replace my slow HDD.

With my HDD I only had access to the bios through Windows (restart+shift+advanced startup+uefi firmware settings).
And, my system was already setted to Secure Boot: OFF, Boot mode: BOTH -> legacy first.

My hdd boots in UEFI, using GPT partition table.

BUT, as i didn't changed the bios config, my new SSD was installed using legacy mode, so it's not using UEFI since the partition table of the ssd is MBR.

NOW, i can't get into the BIOS because the UEFI firmware settings doesn't appear in the advanced startup. Neither pressing any kind of combinations when the PC power ON.
The message in post is displayed at the bottom "To interrupt normal startup, press Enter". But is useless.

I've already tried to update the bios. Same thing, nothing changed. The only way to get in the BIOS is unplugging the CMOS battery, which is ridiculous! OR, using WIN8/8.1 IN UEFI MODE.

So, Lenovo left me stuck with these options: Or you use WIN in UEFI mode, or you'll have to unplug your CMOS battery everytime you want to access YOUR COMPUTER BIOS.

I never saw this before on any Laptop. Am I doing something wrong, or this BIOS is just crazy?

Please help me!

Good day.

Just to confirm:

Please make sure your machine is completely shut down. Not suspended / sleeping.

Press the Power button and then when you first see the Lenovo logo on the screen, press F1.

Regards.
