disc drive not reading B525

My disc drive will not open using the push button on drive cover.  have to stick a pin into the emergency release hole to get it to open.  also will not recognize any type of disc inserted.  any suggestions to help me out? i'm not very electronic or technical savvy....

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: disc drive not reading B525

Hi BYTsnakeman

Welcome to the Community Forums.

The emergency pin hole is a mechanical release mechanism but if you are to have an issue with it even mechanically then maybe it would be better getting it replaced as there are couple of generic drives that would also work for your machine at a lower price.

This you can test if the optical drive has gone hardware bad if it does not boot on a bootable DVD.

You can check on the specific part number for your DVD from the parts look up page or simply get the specification of that same drive and get a generic drive whichever would be more convenient on your end.

You can also review the hardware manual for your laptop from the support page clicking here and use your serial number for the exact model and have it save on your browser favorite.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards
