Re: factory reset g570 after upgrading to win 10

If you were infected with ransomware, I would want to start totally clean.

If you want all the preinstalled Lenovo applications back, you can order recovery media from Lenovo here.

If you are OK with starting with a clean installation of Windows 10, you can create Windows 10 installation media directly from Microsoft here, and use it to do a clean installation, but be sure to delete all the pre-existing partitions when given the option, so Windows is installing to "unallocated space" to insure no threats remain.   OKR recovery will no longer work, but you can create your own Windows 10 recovery media via Windows and save it for future use if needed.

Best of luck,

Re: factory reset g570 after upgrading to win 10

thanks for reply.

I installed win 10 with full clean installation but still LENOVO_PART (hidden partition) is present.

if i cant use OKR or recovery system then what is the need of this partition? should i remove this?

or i can use OKR with win 10 (recovery media on usb or cd is not handy)

also my DVD is not showing in bios and device management.

Re: factory reset g570 after upgrading to win 10

Hi ranasingh123,

In addition, I am thinking that the OKR hidden partition may be damaged so even if you try powering the machine using the Novo button to launch Sytem Recovery that OKR process would fail to start.

There may be available recovery image that you can purchase from Lenovo calling in tech support for the department specially for Windows 7. If it did came with Windows 8 (free download here), perhaps you can proceed with clean installing and removing all other partition altogether for a bigger space.

Ensure you have the same version that came with your machine for automatic activation of the product.
