Hello. I have an old g500s laptop with Pentium 2020m cpu. I had upgraded ram, HDD to SDD and recently I am thinking about a cpu upgrade. Unfortunately it appeared that my mobo has an Intel HM70 chipset installed, that is artificially limited to low-end processors (installed i5 / i7 work, but such machine restarts every 30 minutes).
So I am thinking about putting a bit of life into old machine and putting a different mobo version with HM76 chipset and some i7 into it. My question is - are different versions of that mobo compatible with each other? Are screw / connector locations the same? My mobo version is VILG1 MB W8S UMA HM70.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Not all boards are the same but generally the same ports and socket as shown as compatible parts of the same model. You can click here in the parts lookup and choose compatible under configuration, systemboard under commodity list.
You can check the hardware manual here for reference on disassembly and location.
I hope this helps answer your query.

Thank You for the answer. Unfortunately, compatible button is inactive (it says "Sorry, no matching data is found"). Only model button is active. My motherboard version is VILG1 MB W8S UMA HM70 (part no 90003097). Substitutes secion is also empty.
