I can not stop my g780 with win 8 from going to sleep after 30 -60 seconds (if no movment) even though i have gone to power options and made what i thought was the proper adjustments to make it stay on all the time when plugged in, but it seams that any changes i try to make, makes no difference. Is this an issue with Lenovo system management or Win 8 or a conflict with the both of them, this problem is very disturbing and very unacceptible for proper funtion usage of a pc. I have seen other posts with diff models having same problem which suggests that this is a Lenovo system problem. Any suggestions to fixing this

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I believe that this is the settings you checked:
under Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options
Under you selected power plan click on Change plan settings
Just make sure that sleep and turn off display are on Never
Also one thing to check is screen saver,
Right click on your desktop screen and choose Personalize,
On the lower left you should see a screen saver option.
Make sure it is set to none.
Hope this helps

You were partly correct but when you go to the personalize window, and on the lower right corner it did say none in my case but you still have to click on it and bring up " screen saver settings" to make sure (none) is showing in the selection bar and unclick (on resume, display logon screen)

Yes i did, bring up " screen saver settings" to make sure (none) is showing in the selection bar and unclick (on resume, display logon screen) My system said i did not have screen saver on but you still have to make sure to do as i have underlined. My g780 is running win 8.

Unfortunately that did not fix my problem. I have screensaver set to None, "on resume..." unchecked, and dim display / turn off display / put to sleep all set to Never. My screen still goes black every 5-20 seconds. Very frustrating!

OK, lets try again: first on your desktop, right click ,then click personalization, then left click on the screen saver icon that is on the bottom that should say "none" at this point, which will bring up screen saver settings, then there should be box for selecting a type of screen saver you want, this should say none! then just below it is a box that says On resume, display logon screen, make sure this is" unchecked".. now you can see if that works... but also check your power options for battery use and pluged in use, there are 3 : balanced, high performance and power saver... each one of these has a "change plan settings" that you need to look/click on and see what they are set at, should have DIM THE DISPLAY, TURN OFF THE DISPLAY, PUT THE COMPUTOR TO SLEEP.
One question though is your system under warranty? if so you can always call support and they can fix most things very quickly if you let them access you PC.. HAVE A NICE DAY.
