Re: lenovo g50-80 SSD upgrade

Which operating system are you running?  Windows 10?  Windows 8?

Also are you trying to connect via ethernet or wifi?

It found the network adapter, I cannot get online using wifi, have not tried ethernet as I don't have any connectors, never had a problem just loading a clean version  of windows before, lucky maybeSmiley Happy Craig73

Re: drivers download

I seem to be missing drivers for..ethernet controller, network, pci simple communication, SM bus and universal serial bus controllers,

should I reinsert my cd and see if it will repair or find the missing drivers? I think I'm going blind looking at all those drivers and so far haven't found any that fits my needs, any easy help tips would be nice, hate to cave in to the machine and take it to a shop. Man Mad Thanks Craig73

Re: drivers download

Hi craig73,

Greetings.

Generally, you can start with the chipset from the support site here. If you have a drivers CD then that would also work installing original drivers.

Just take each step one at a time, and restart after each one. If you recheck the device manager, I believe you would be optimistic on your progress.

Try saving the drivers in one location like the desktop. After the chipset, then wireless LAN , then display and video graphics , then audio, then the rest of the drivers as needed while checking back on the device manager.

Update us how you progress. Once you done it then it would be easier the next time doing it on this machine as well as other computers too.

Regards

Re: drivers download

I found a bunch of drivers, downloaded to a cd and BAM everything seems to be working well, the SSD is really fast so far, gotta get more stuff on it. NOW I tried to register my copy of win7 ultimate and I got this activation error...0xC004C008.

My product came sealed, so I am thinking maybe my bios is still using win 8 info? My lenovo G50-80 had win 8 installed, I did the free upgrade to win10 then about two months later they had a update which promptly killed my pc, nothing worked, it seemed like to much to do all the fixes so I opted to install the SSD and win7 so I know there isn't nothing on the SSD but my copy of win7, oh boy another head ache..but hey I am learning more about computers. Re: drivers download

If it was a retail boxed product and you were able to insert the CD key when the installation program asked for it, then you should be able to "activate" windows once you have a good network connection.

If the online activation fails again, then I would suggest contacting Microsoft and have them look into the key that was provided. Either way - contacting them online or by phone will get it resolved.
