lenovo g50-80 running slow/up

I bought a Lenovo G50 a couple of years ago online and really only use it for a handful of things (pictures, web browsing, etc...) I do nothing on there that would use up any considerable amount of memory. The specs on mine are Lenovo Essential G50 15.6" (500GB, AMD E-Series, 1.35GHz, 4GB) Notebook. I know that HDD needs to be switched, but I am baffled as to why it running as slow and laggy as it is. It literally makes no sense. I haven't taken the cover off the laptop yet, but can anyone assist in knowing what the max ram capacity for this version of the laptop is? And I will be buying a SSD soon, so anything helpful that you can add to the topic at hand would be most appreciated (hard drive back up tips, etc...) Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

It would help if you share the machine number /MTM ( ex.80G0008BUS) from the sticker or get it from here. This would show more details aside from your current Windows version ( Win 7/ Win 8.1/ Win 10 32/ 64 bit etc.).

 

In general, G50 platform specification:

 

N2830 / N3530 models:
8GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, one 204-pin SO-DIMM socket, system automatically clocks down for 1333MHz DDR3 memory controller


Other models: 16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets
