Re: lenovo g500 startup problem

Hi Saif,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you G500 Laptop is hanging at Lenovo Logo. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

  1. Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
  2. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
  3. If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
  4. Now access the BIOS menu press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
  5. Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on “F9” Key and select YES.
  6. Now click on “F10” Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer should automatically restart. Please check if the issue persists.

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: lenovo g500 startup problem

It keeps on getting worse. At first it happened once a month or so but now every other day.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

A faulty piece of hardware can cause lags or freezes during boot up. This is especially true if the system was running good initially and over time the problem progressively got worse.  I would suggest you run Check Disk on the hard drive and do a memory test.  Here is a link to a highly recommended free memory test utility.......

Re: lenovo g500 startup problem

Ok this is something tricky, and you may never be able to get the solution from any where either from lenovo, microsoft or tech guys.

I was facing a similar problem- I had my Harddisk changed, nothing happened.

It seemed something was getting short circuit.

SO i removed RAM, changed RAM nothing happened. I switched to my original RAM again.

I removed battery, installed new battery, nothing happened. I switched to my origian battery again

I removed hard disk, installed new hard disk, nothing happened. I switched to my original hard disk again.

FInally: i removed the CD rom drive.

And my computer started working again like it was originally.

I have removed the CD ROM and now system is working fine. Not getting slow or any other signs.

Just working fine.

Seems CD ROM was getting short or something.

You should try this, might work for you.

Re: lenovo g500 startup problem

@wakaspai.   Thank you!!

Removal of CD ROM  worked for me.

The laptop wouldnt start at all like other people complained, but after I removed the cd rom worked with no problem. It s a shame that these things happen....
