Re: upgradae options for lenovo g570

Hi tnaveenkumar ,

Welcome to the Community Forums .

As per the hardware manual for your G570 :

Memory Specifications : DDR3-1066/1333MHz SODIMM socket x 2 (max 4GB per slot)

8GB max7 / PC3-10600 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets;

You may add additional memory :

Part number 11012320 MIC MT16JSF51264HZ-1G4D1 DDR313334GBRAM

Currently you have processor:

Part number : 102500226 Intel I5-2450M 2.5G J1 3M 2cPGA CPU

possible upgrade as per FRU listing (page 73) :

Part number : CPU assembly, Intel I7-2620M 2.7G 4M 2c J1 PGA processor

Hope this answered your query .

Regards

Re: upgradae options for lenovo g570

Hi Spidey101,

Thank you verymuch for the quick and informative response. I will go for 4gb more ram, but processor upgrade seems to be not significant.

http://ark.intel.com/compare/53452,52231

i7-2620m is also 2core processor only and graphics performance is also seems to be identical. are there any better options?

is the document you shared suitable to my model, as it has not mentioned the processor I have on my laptop?

Regards,

Naveen KT

Re: upgradae options for lenovo g570

Hi tnaveenkumar  ,

Greetings.

Nest possiblke upgrade as per recommendation is still:

Part number : CPU assembly, Intel I7-2620M 2.7G 4M 2c J1 PGA processor

Other than that we cannot assume that it would be compatible with the systemboard and BIOS .

Anyways , your right with the CPU upgrade from current I5 to I7 is not much of advantage as you have checked,

Using 59318111 for the parts lookup page and matching it with similar  specification models on HMM (check with manufacturer number PIWG2  ) for the processor and ram for the pc.

Actual image and specification of the motherboard would show 2 slot available for  max of 8GB  .

You may also use this product sheet for machine number  59318111 as reference under specification tab .

Upgrade of the memory would be something you would greatly feel the difference with.

Update us how it goes for you .

Regards

Re: upgradae options for lenovo g570

sorry for replying so late.

RAM upgradation gave a necessary performance boost.

Now I am contemplating additional SSD for further performance boost, what is your opinion on this?

or should I ditch this unit as its 5 years old now?

Re: upgradae options for lenovo g570

Hi tnaveenkumar ,

Greetings.

Upgrading the SSD (SATA) from HHD would also be a big speed boost and just like the RAM , such devices are transferable to other machine too.

Thinking about SATA technology 5 years from now , I'm sure that other interface would be readily available like m.2 cheaper than it is now and it may be that other storage interface would be offer better speed and bigger storage.

Regards
