windows doesn't detect second GPU on G770

I have really weird problem on friends notebook Lenovo G770 20089.

It has switchable Intel HD3000+Radeon HD6650M graphic cards.

But for some reason, when I reinstalled windows now, it sometimes detect the Radeon GPU and sometimes not.

I tried to install official Lenovo drivers and also newest from Intel/AMD. Nothing changed. I reinstalled the windows 3 times...

Does anyone had already this problem? I'm starting to thing, if it's not HW problem...

Thank you

Re: windows doesn't detect second GPU on G770

Hi Benik,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

There are two sets of graphics card in the G770, one is the integrated intel GPU and another is the Radeon HD6650M, which one is used depends on graphics load and your preference.

Seems like the setting needs to be verified under bios and the switchable graphics hardware switch need to be changed in windows mode to use Radeon HD6650M.But this will draw more power and produce more heat, however the graphics performance will be higher.

Technically, the Intel integrated graphics is always active, although it is not always in use. Nvidia graphics will turn on and off according to need.

Please try to go into the BIOS and double check the Graphics have been set to the correct settings.

I.e. Optimus  or switchable , Save and restart the system , Under windows press the switchable graphics  hardware switch  then check under device manager if two graphics cards are listed .

I hope the above information helps.
