S200 Desktop (Lenovo) Machine Type Model: 10HQ0013SP VPD update

2018-06-22, 3:48 AM

Hi,

I've just changed the motherboard of a S200 MT10HQ.
I cannot update the MT / SN with all the tools I used for all other Lenovo machine.
I've tried with the BIOS update file currently available on a W10, failing too...

What kind of tool should I use for this One ????
As I have 3 other machine to repair.. the pb is urgent !!

If someone has a Tuto or procedure I will kindly apreciate !!

Thanks

Emmanuel

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I see your posting is a little dated.  I assume that you followed the instructions below found in the BIOS Update README file.   Did you double check the syntax you were using.  I've run into that problem before when working on a system from another computer manufacturer.  Also with Windows 10, make sure you run it as ADMINISTRATOR.

3. Flash Program Options

To deploy this application, please open the Windows Command Prompt
with Administrator privilege. Then run "xxxJYnnUSA.EXE -s -e"
to unpack the installation files into the default path:
  "C:\SWTOOLS\FLASH\xxxJYnnUSA". After that, run "flash.cmd /quiet"
to start the update process. If you like to customize the update
options, please edit the wflash2.exe command line in the flash.cmd
file to make changes to the flash program options.

     Command options:

  wflash2.exe [option1] [option2] ... [optionX]

[OPTIONS]
 /h   Show help messages.
 /ign    Ignore BIOS version check.
/sn:nnnnnnn    Update system serial number (up to 20 characters).
/csn:nnnnnnn    Update chassis serial number (up to 20 characters).
/mtm:nnnnnnn    Update machine type and model number (up to 25 characters).

The README also lists a second method using the AMI SMBOIS Editor.  Not sure how that would related to your model.

 5. AMIDEWIN - AMI SMBIOS Editor for Windows

  AMIDEWIN.exe [option1] [option2] ... [optionX]

    Options:
/SP  "String"     Update the System Machine Type and Model Number.
/SS  "String"     Update the System Serial Number.
/CS  "String"     Update the Chassis Serial Number.
/SU  auto         Update the System UUID.
/SV  "String"     update the System Brand ID.
/CA  "String"     update the Chassis Asset Tag Number.

Here is link to that README for your reference......

Re: S200 Desktop (Lenovo) Machine Type Model: 10HQ0013SP VPD update

I have tried updating the serial number on several S200 desktops with the utilities provided in the moljy20usa.exe and we keep getting errors

AMIDEWIN fails with "initializing SMbios interface.... signature not found

WFLASH2 fails with H2OSDE-W.exe is not in the current directory

Any ideas?

Hi Majestic,

There is no error or typo error from my side.

After deep search and help of Lenovo0333, it appears that the package moljy20usa.exe available on the website is not good.

The Bios installed on the machine is EFI InsydeH2O, and needs the H2OSDE-W.exe to be updated.

This file is not in the package available....

So Lenovo Support needs to updated it..... ASAP !

Thank you both for the feedback.  I will report the issue.

If just the H2OSDE-W.exe application is needed, that program is packaged with the BIOS update for the IdeaCentre 300 series at the link below.  The README file for that download has the syntax listed for using that application.

Andy_Lenovo has advised me that the BIOS Update package for the S200 has been corrected.  You can find that new download at the link below.......
