Re: HARD DRIVE FAILED

Hi North450,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I’m sorry to hear that the HDD was not working and is replaced in your J105 Desktop, if you have created the recovery discs before the HDD got crashed. I suggest you to install the OS (Operating System) using the Recovery discs to factory reset as it will create the default recommended partitions required for the computer and I’m sorry to inform you that the SATA drivers are not available in our support website for Windows Xp, but can be download from the Intel. Below is the link to download the driver:

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: HARD DRIVE FAILED

Hi North450,

The Display driver link provided in the above post should be opened after the J105 computer is re-installed using the Recovery Discs, the partitions will be automatically created if and only if the re-installation is performed using Recovery Discs.

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Re: HARD DRIVE FAILED

when you install from an orignal xp disc not the 8

you must have the drivers on a separate diskette

when you install the OS you press on the "hard drive screen" I HAVE DRIVERS    f6
insert the disk when prompted
xp is copying the drivers and installing itself on sata drive.

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxpclean1_3.htm

Toward the beginning of this process, a message will appear that says Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver.... As long as you are performing this clean install from a Windows XP SP2 CD, this step is probably not necessary. On the other hand, if you're reinstalling from an older version of the Windows XP installation CD and you have an SATAhard drive, you will need to press F6 here to load any necessary drivers. The instructions that came with your hard drive or computer should include this information.

For most users though, this step can be ignored.

Re: HARD DRIVE FAILED

Hi North450,

Yes you are exactly correct about the steps but as this is an old model computer many of the drivers are not available, this is the reason the “RAID & Display Driver” should be downloaded from the Intel Website directly.

Do post us back for further queries.
