Pentium D to Core 2 DUO Upgrade question

I have a lenovo Serie 3000-J110, model 7393HDS with a Pentium D 325.
1) Can I upgrade the motherboard to a Core 2 DUO E4300 or E6300 ?
2) Do I need special changes in the operating system, or just change the processor and ready to work?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Pentium D to Core 2 DUO Upgrade question

Firstly, Lenovo don't provide upgrade parts like Motherboards etc for OEM upgrades, secondly it would be cheaper for you just to procure another desktop with Core 2 duo processor.

Re: Pentium D to Core 2 DUO Upgrade question

1) Did you mean Pentium D 925? (Never heard of 325.)

2) What is your current motherboard chipset?

You don't need anything special but you need to take note which CPU your motherboard supports. I did a lot of upgrades by myself. My original configuration:

Pentium D 925 - 512MB 533MHz - 280W PSU - Intel Onboard GFX

Now, see my signature...

P/S: I sold all the used parts online to salvage the cost. Smiley Happy
