Stick 300 CMOS battery drain

If I do not leave power applied to the Stick 300 will it accelerate drain of the CMOS battery like on a conventional computer?

Re: Stick 300 CMOS battery drain

The battery should last ~5 years without power (remember time in warehouse counts). I see no reason why the stick would use battery power when it is connected to the mains, so that should stop battery use whilst connected. Unconnected, however, the battery is all there is so it will be used.

Interestingly, the manual includes guidance for choosing a replacement battery but fitting it would be challenging as no details on actually how to replace it are provided. Bit weird?

Re: Stick 300 CMOS battery drain

There are tear down photos of the Intel version on the internet. They mention the case is snapped together and hard to get apart without breaking. The CMOS battery shows as the type with leads welded on and a connector. That's like the old days of PC's, trying to find a proprietary battery to buy, or cutting off the leads to make your own. Much rather to have an available standard battery that just clips into a battery holder.
