ideacentre 300s-11ish too small to install gtx1060

2018-07-23, 9:02 AM

I have IdeaCentre 300s-11ish. I want to change the graphics card of gt730 to gtx1060. However, the case of the computer is so small that I can't put the cover back. How can I install the graphics card? Do I need to buy a bigger case? If yes, are there any suggestions for me?

I have the same model. I upgraded the GPU to a 1050-Ti instead, I think I'll go for the 1060-6GB.

Yes you will nedd a different case, I bought a Raidmax Neon from Fry's for about $50, which doesn't have a slot for the disk drive (which was fine for me since everything is digital nowadays anyway). If you decide not to use the disk drive then you'll have an open sata port in which you can install a ssd or another hdd, but if you want to keep your disk drive, then find a case with that option. I'd also recommend upgrading your PSU as well, I got a Thermaltake TR2 430W (I'd get a modular PSu for better cable management).
