I also have this problem on my N200, 0769-BLG. Possibly due to the fact I haven't been able to find any Power Management softwere, only the PM Driver. (So the functions are there, in theory, but no way to use them.)

Any help much apprechated.

I tested it using NHC, and it came up as Not Available. So it could be a problem with the driver on the battery not reporting the time / not creating the estimated time.

I believe there is meant to be power manager software (NOT the driver) for the Lenovo 3000 N200, as when you go to the automated solutions to check your battery, it says Power Manager software not installed, and that you need to install it. But I can't find any software on the site.

Hi

Same problem here, very annoying considering my 7 year laptop can tell me minutes left.

It does seem that we are missing a power management applet, for example there are no options to dim the back light based on time left or have different brightnesses for mains or battery, again my much older laptop manages to do all this using an applet.

Regards

Phil

This is an interesting conversation. I was not aware that a seperate device driver exists for the battery on the laptop.

Yeah, there is the "Lenovo Power Management Driver", which I am not sure what it is does, and then the standard driver for the battery in device manager.

Perhaps the two utilities are conflicting with eachother.

Is the Lenovo Power Utility driver absolutely neccesary? Would it hurt normal operation of the unit if the driver or software monitoring the battery was removed. ?

I think that in this line of notebooks is some fault, because on all notebooks I ever have in my hand this function was without problems - even without special drivers or software, only windows (XP or Vista) with standart drivers can communicate with battery and power management in way that can show remaining time, which was calculated on actual power consuption. Even NHC was able to show information about power rate of charging and discharging. So in my opinion is there some fault i dont know where (bios, motherboard, battery) but somwhere here is. And I think that this is standart trivial feature which all notebooks shoud have. I mailed to Lenovo support twice, but i havent answer till nowdays, so lenovo support please solve this problem because it seems that huge amount of N200 notebooks have this error.

Thanks.
