3000 N500 not booting

Been struggling for about a week. lappie will not boot, goes into diagnostic stuff and reapirs done, then some software does not work and needs to be deleted and re-installed.

Yesterday it gave up completely and refused to repair. Changed BIOS boot order to CD drive first and tried to use the recovery disks that I made on the machine, they will not boot!

Now baffled! Any suggestions, please?
