3000 n100-0768 does not start up

2008-03-25, 15:13 PM
Hello, I have a 3000 -N100  0768 Notebook that was working fine, then one day it would not boot up. When I press the power button the light comes on and I hear beeps but no video. I can’t even get into the BIOS.

The beeps are (1 long and 2 short) and it keeps beeping this over and over until I shut it down.

I pulled oput the HD and reseated it and the same things happens I also pulled out both sticks of RAM and tried each one individually, I get the same problem. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi LTfixer, welcome to the forum,

have a look in the Hardware Maintainance Manual, you'll be able to find out what the beep codes mean. Have you tried connecting an external display?

Thanks for the reply

This is according to the website from andyp

One long and two short beeps, and a blank

or unreadable LCD.

1. System board.

2. LCD assembly.

3. DIMM.

I already tried DIMM so it must be one of the first 2.
I will try an connecting an external display tonight.

I think a memory reseat is in order to make it work again. I once had a problem on an older desktop computer where the Ram was causing a blank screen on the bootup of my computer. Removing the memory and plugging the memory back in seemed to have solved the trick.

Bite the bullet....... IT'S BROKE !!  For the price of a used repaired motherboard ...or.... a new LCD screen it's almost as expensive as buying a new laptop.  Go for the new laptop.
