Re: A solution for Lenovo 3000 Fan noise

2008-06-22, 22:09 PM

Hi,

My undervolt is 1.0125 at 10x and 0.9125 at 6x

I updated the trigerring scheme as Begi said. Thank you Begi.  It is much better now.   Fan is of until 70, and if it reaches 70 fan starts to blow (in mode 1) untill temperature is below 62. Now it doesn't go go on/off  repetatively.

Settings like below :

if (((_TZ._tz > 70) && (_TZ._tz <= 74)) ||  (_TZ.fan_on_modus == 1))
...

if (((_TZ._tz <= 62)) ||  (_TZ.fan_on_modus == 0 ))
...

Hi wowow

if you have a Lenovo 3000 series it should work for you too but please read the first post of this thread from Ilker carefully.and change name (model)=" " part with you machines orginal part in the lenovo.xml file. Donot change "class name" even if it is not your model.

The undervolting can definetely be applied. You just have to find how much you can undervolt myself. This alone will give you a decrease in temperature of about 10 degrees celcius.

Cheers,

Begi

once i did the first stage, undervolting my cpu max temp went down to 60-61.. now once i turned on NHC i set fan 1 on at 60 and it kept reaching 60 and down to 59.. stop back to 60 start... back to 59 stop. i changed to 63 as my max temp was 61 under stress and its reaching that temp when idle :S

has my NHC changed the voltage settings? laptop is feeling alot hoter since i turned NHC on aswell.

il try a few things and post again if i still have problems.

k the NHC was messing it up quite badly, even with the default edit you had made. most likely something i did wrong so right now, just letting the comp run its fan by itself, and hope it doesnt attempt to over temp again..

Thanks, thanks, thanks!

The fan noise in this hot season was driving me mad, even with the processor speed reduced at 30%. The fan control settings you sent stopped it instantly, even without changing voltage.

One question: Somebody knows why I can't change voltage with NHC?

Seriously, this change my life, as I work with my Lenovo for hours a day.

Best regards,
Juan

(BTW, why fan control is not enabled somewhere in Vista?)
