Re: Definative Memory Question (3000 N100)

The XP 32 bit can handle 3 gig, XP 64 bit can handle 3 gig above. Each application in XP 32 bit can only use the maximum of 2 gig of ram.

Now, what BIOSs/models really support 2x2GB modules when officially they only support 2GB?

So ALL Lenovo bioses support 4gb natively?

2nd question: If I install an 64 bit chip like the T7600, does the bios support 74 bit OSs?

If it is a Santa Rosa chipset (i.e. one with the GM965) machine then it can support 8 gig, if you have a GM945 Chipset then a max of 4 gig, but only a max of 3.25 gig will be utilised by the laptop, regardless of 64 bit or 32 bit OS.

The 64 bit OS should be supported by the right Santa Rosa C2D CPU, i.e. T7xxx as you have mentioned.
