Re: G550 Bios FAIL

2010-07-09, 13:52 PM

Hello Mark,

Can you please post a recommended procedure for flashing the BIOS on Lenovo laptops, G550 in particular.

I´m trying to upgrade BIOS on my G550 laptop but when run (as admin) the x64 18CN44WW .exe the update would not initiate, system reports error: ˝Windows cannot find C:\\....x64 18CN44WW.exe. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again˝. I don't have issues with any other installation programs. Should I try to flash BIOS from Safe Mode?

 System details

                  Machine type/model:2002-3

                  Serial number:xxxx

                  BIOS version:18CN42WW(V2.51)

Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (64-bit)

                  Total memory:3072 MB

Regards,

Yutopian

Re: G550 BIOS upgrade help

2010-07-09, 21:31 PM

...After I played with the BIOS .exe file I came to conclusion that is corrupted.

Extracting file: x64 18CN44WW (V2.53).exe

Use Path: yes Overlay Files: no

Error in file #1: bad Zip file offset (Error local header signature not found): disk #1 offset: 67584

file 1 is BIOS.wph

Can you please check the file and re-upload the correct BIOS update file.

Thanks,

IH

You should install 64 bits, because 32 bits waste the memory (you lose 0.5 GB).

yup, but latly i installed windows 7 64bit, my lap was over heating, i had a driver issues, so i rolled back to the orignal windows 7 32bit with the onekey recovery, so i was asking, should i flash the bois with the new 64bit or with a 32bit?, notice that i flashed the bois with a 64bit bois while i was working on windows 7 64bit, but now im working on the orginal windows 7 32bit with a 64 bit bois :), what should i do ?
