IE Crash

2008-07-24, 12:53 PM

I'm having a problem with Internet Explorer crashing on my Lenovo 3000 N100, running Vista with 2GB RAM. The crash occurs when I right-click on a Favorite, and the error message is:

"Unhandled exception at 0x7542459b in iexplore.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00000207."

Is this a known problem? Any workaround?

I can see that there are Vista and IE bashers on this forum. Please spare me the propaganda. I respect the fact that you prefer other OSes and other browsers, but I've got IE running fine on Vista on my other computers. It's a Lenovo-specific problem.

Thanks for your help.

I have isolated the problem to OmniPass 5.00. Essentially, remove OmniPass and the problem goes away. Don't know if Softex has an update that resolves it.

My computer does the same thing when I right click on a folder in my favorites, but not for individual files.  It hasn't bothered me that much, but I was wondering what was causing the problem.  Good luck.

Don't waste your time with Softex (OmniPass) support. All I got from them was blame-game, claiming it was an IE problem, and an attempt to sell me an upgrade that has the same problem. Some of the worst tech support I have come across in years.
