Laptop Very Slow.

2008-02-14, 7:39 AM
Computer: Lenovo 3000  N200

I just got my Lenovo 3000 Laptop, Specs are Intel Celeron 1.73GHz with 504MB of ram showing on the computer,
the problem is that it takes forever to start up and then forever to open folders once it has all loaded in, going online takes  between 30 seconds and 1 min to show the internet once the icon has been pushed and to shut it down it takes almost 5 minutes to shut down once the shutdown button has been pushed, as you can understand this is very frustrating. This is not my 1st laptop this is my 3rd laptop and my Pent 3 Laptop runs faster then this one on all applications and start up and shut down and that computer only has 256MB of ram. Can someone please help me with this problem as i cannot work with this computer at this speed.

Thanks

Fiona

For easy way and time saving, backup all your data, re-format and re-install OS. make sure u standby all your driver before reformat.

Mine is slow too.  I went thru and uninstalled all large un-needed software I could and turned off the indexing service.  Did a disk clean and defrag about 15 times (it still claims to be a fragged disk), and that has helped tremendously.

Try disabling all startup programs,
to see if's it's a faulty program.

the easiest way is to use the msconfig program.

I would also try seeing what program is eating up the resources, ctrl+shift+esc.

I rember a needed update for some strange tvtupdate program from lenovo that was using 99 %.
This update can be found on the website if that's the problem, good luck

For all of those having this kind of issues in new Lenovo computers running Windows 8, please check the TIWorker.exe (Windows Modules Installer Worker) issue. It is very likely that is the problem.

Microsoft released a fix for this issue here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2771431/en-us

TIWorker has been reported as using up to 50% of CPU resources when checked in Task Manager.
