Lenovo 3000 N200 Product Recovery Disc - Need to restore to Factory state F11 not working

2009-05-27, 10:52 AM

Need to return Lenovo to Factory Installed State.  Did not realise I could use F11 & instead ran my Rescue & Recovery CD's which I made when I first set-up laptop.  Disc 1 ran OK but when it started second phase  of Lenovo Rescue & Recovery 4 after re-booting, when it asks for Disc 1 of Product Recovery Disc I put the next disc in I created originally but it says it is not the correct disc.  It created 4 discs when I did original install but none of them are recognised as Product Recovery Discs!  F11 now takes me to the Lenovo Rescue & Recovery 4 screens!  I presume the ONLY option is to buy a set of Product Recovery Discs?  I presume the first part of the recovery has overwritten hidden partion or it will not give me access?

My R&R CD's are:  (I thought these were Product Recovery CD's?)

All have a top level RRbackups folder

Disc 1 - Contains
I386
PREBBOT

BOOT

plus a few small files

Disc 2 (Called 1C)
Contains 91 Data Files

Disc 3 (Called 2C)
Contains 92 data files

Disc 4 (Called Final C)

Contains

a couple of folders one contains 21 Data files

Help!

Ok Relax, Try this, cause I came cross with same problem. I have N500. beginning, I prepared 12 disks of recovery sets.

When I have try to install the same hard disk after got virus. ( My mother plays a lot gambling on internet.)

However couldn't go more than same page of thinkvantage..

What I did , I remove the hardisk connected with USB SATA and go to my desktop to see what is the problem. First I did scan viruses, make defragment, than, put it back, but no result. Than I have seen it has two(2) driver as K:/ and L:./  I format K and L so made the harddisk "0" nothing on it. First I have check with another Vista Premium to see if the HDD problem, it started to loading but I stopped and go back to Format.

I installed and set the bios load from CD drive. First Opened and load all the files than asked me disk one, I put, started to load but on back panel I noticed shows as RED X for operating system, but applications and suppliment are finely loaded. When I have waited to finished and restarted  I have noticed it is loading another page. Finally finished , after restarted,

Voila.. I am on Setup Windows page and seeing language choice with next button waiting for me to continue.

Sorry I forget to tell you, If you do not wanted to ruin your HDD disk Use another SATA or PATA what ever you have.

David, welcome to the forum,

when it re-boots you will be confronted by a question about discs and the option to click on yes or no. There are different types / versions of recovery discs you will need to click on "No", it will then ask for your first recovery disc again. Insert your first disc and then click on yes - sit back, relax, and wait for it to ask for discs 2 and 3.

Hope this helps

Andy

Thanks guys.

In the end I purchased a set of product restore disks from Leno £40!  But they did the job, very complex long winded restore process, took two attemps but all OK now!  Lenovo support v. good even though Laptop no longer under warranty.  (Just like the old IBM I remember from my early days in computing back in the 80's!)  David
