Lenovo c340 External mic not working in 3.5mm Headphone jack port

Hello,

I bought a new Lenovo Ideapad c340 2 days back and just realised that the microphone isn't working.

It is a combo port of 3.5 mm and I have tried connecting multiple earphones in it which are working on my other devices.

I also tried connecting a Bluetooth headset and it works completely fine.

I tried using the in-built microphone and that work fine. But I cannot not be using my earphones as I usually want to do Video calls.

I tried testing the microphone from sound settings and the input bar doesn't move for External Microphone but moves when I select Microphone Array (which I believe in internal mic)

Looking for a quick resolution to this issue or else I have to return the laptop. I have 5 days of return period left.

Regards,

Re:Lenovo c340 External mic not working in 3.5mm Headphone jack port

After a LOT of debugging myself, I finally found the issue.

1. I thought may its software / drier issue, so, first of all, I updated all pending upgrades via windows update.
2. Then I went to the Lenovo Vantage app which comes pre-installed and upgraded everything there.

3. Next, I thought the issue is with SmartAudio3 application by Synaptics which was controlling the microphone. There is an option 'Enable AudioSmart SSP' which I disabled.

4. Goto Settings > Search and select 'Microphone Privacy Setting'  > Enable 'Allow Apps to access your microphone' > Select apps you want to have the microphone access.

5. You can test the microphone in Settings > Sound > Input
