Mouse touchpad not working

2009-03-05, 19:08 PM
I bought my N 500 yesterday through a local dealer....   I brought it home, opened it up, played with some of my display and the widgets, then decided to pop a dvd in to see how it played.   My mouse touchpad stopped working the second the movie started playing.   the mouse menu in the control panel says that the device is working properly, drivers are up to date.   I can plug a USB mouse in and use the computer normally.  Turned off widgets in case it had something to do with that (I'd just installed the XM radio widget about 2 minutes before the mouse went on the fritz)  i have reverted all the mouse settings to default.  Unplug the USB mouse, touchpad doesn't work......

Above the keyboard up near the hinge there is a set of four inbedded touch buttons (next to where it says N500 on my computer).  they light up when touched.   From left to right, mine are mute, volume down, volume up, and the one all the way to the right turns the mouse touchpad on and off....    On my computer, when the touchpad is turned off, there is a blue light that turns on between the left and right mouse buttons....
