No option to create product recovery media

2010-05-29, 19:55 PM

I installed Rescue and Recovery version 4.21,but i do not hav the option to create product recovery discs.I am able to enter the "Create Recovery Media" - But unlike the first image Here,i only have the option to create rescue media, not the recovery discs.

I tried the "Create Recovery Media" option and inserted a DVD.After a few minutes a message popped up saying something like "Label the disc as 'Rescue And Recovery Startup Disc'" with about 300mb worth of files, and no product recovery discs \operating system discs.

Lenovo 3000 N100 0768-BVG

Windows Vista Home Basic

Any help would be appriciated :)

Csmiler, welcome to the forum,

this was an issue with ThinkPads, never heard of it on a 3000 system, but the cure on ThinkPads was to run the System Update utility. Maybe you could give it a try? A long shot, but who knows?

What's the history of your laptop? Did you get it used?

Has it been reformatted? Have system restore disks been made before,

by a previous owner, for example?

System Update is not the same as Windows Update, it is a tool which enables you to automatically install / update drivers and Lenovo Utilities on your system.

If you formatted away the service partition at any point, you will definitely not be able to create recovery discs. At best you could use R&R to create an image of the current state should you need to roll back to it at some time.

Who's going to know :smileywink: Copying for the purpose of having a "backup" is in no way illegal. Copying and re-distributing is another matter.

Glad you found your discs :smileyvery-happy:
