Problems install Realtek Audio driver

2009-01-12, 10:59 AM

Hello.

Currently installed system:

WinXP SP3

Install the given driver form Lenovo:

  ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/68ar04ww.exe

Setup run well, print no error, but the audio device isn't install.

So, try another version direct from Realtek:

  ftp://66.104.77.130/pc/audio/WDM_R214.exe

The same result, can install, no errors but device will not work an will not be detect.

Any idea what's happens or which driver is to install.

TIA

Andreas Riedel

Just a thought, when you double clicked on the .......WDM 214.exe, did it unpack into a folder with a setup.exe file?

If it did, then you need to execute the setup.exe twice, first to un-install the previous driver, thenreboot.  Go back and double click on the setup.exe again, which will now install the new codec driver, then reboot. Your sound will come back when Windows XP boots up.

Hope this helps.
