I also have the same problem, model is Lenovo V510-15 /15.6"/ Intel i7-7500U (3.5G)/ 16GB RAM/ 1000GB HDD + 256GB SSD/ ext. VC/ DOS (80WQ00K7BM).

I bought this lap top 2 months ago, and it had frozen at the very first day of using it. It was while watching youtube. After that, it happened once a week, and most of the time was while some graphics demanding apps, so I suspected on graphics first, because I saw on another Lenovo forums same issue, with other lap tops with 2 graphic cards, and one of the solution was to disable the second card (AMD). I tried in bios to set only integrated (intel) graphic card, but with no success. Last couple of time when it froze was while doing something on chrome, and even the music stops playing, and everything freezes completely. OS is windows 10 enterprise 64 bit.

Exactly the same problem for me and my collegue. The firm where we work bought 2 brand new Lenovo V510 and both of them freezes now. We use ubuntu 16.4 on them and in the begining it happend about 5 times per day. Later we upgrade the kernel and now its still freezes, but about 1 time per day. It happens when the machine doing some hard work and never when it is in peaceful condition.

Does any of Lenovo tech support reading this thread?

More than 10 people posted same problem in this thread, but no reaction.

 

Freezes happens both on Linux (with latest kernel) and latest Windows 10 with all drivers installed and BIOS updated.

On Linux i've tried intel_idle.max_cstate=0 and processor.max_cstate=0 but freezes still happens.

Freeze can happen in 5 minutes after boot and after 3-4 hours of work and not saved progress will be lost :(

 

This is my first lenovo laptop and so bad experience.

Lenovo guys, help us! Any workaround will be nice!

I've updated bios to the latest version, installed the newest amd graphic drivers. It was working fine for 4-5 days, while it was on my desk, and thought that the problem is maybe resolved. Then I moved the lap top from the desk to my bed, and then, freeze! So, I don't know, maybe it is some hardware issue.

Lenovo folks?!

I have same problem. Lenovo V510-15IKB i5-7200U 2.5Ghz 4Gb Ram - OS: Xubuntu (I tried with many distributions until 17.04) - Bios last update .

Blocks occur at any time during normal use. The pc is fixed on the desk. Sometimes after moving it and putting it back on the desk, for a few days the freeze did not occur, but then they happen again.
Another problem occurs if there are connected hard disk drives when booting, boot blocks for 3-4 minutes before the startup Lenovo screen.
I have been buying lenovo for more than 10 years and have always recommended them, but this time they really disappointed me.
I hope in a quick fix of technical assistance or a communication to retrieve the product from the market and replace with working machines those already sold.

I do have the same issue. This is my first laptop Lenovo and I'm quite disappointed. I would not recommend to anybody to buy Lenovo. So many people have the same issue and no response from Lenovo tech support team...
