@willhunting

Oh, well, what can I say?(( Nothing, really. I'm still waiting for freeze to happen, too.

I've installed all the latest drivers as well.

Uninstalled all the Lenovo soft and AMD graphics driver.

BIOS 2WCN40WW

My lap:

V510-15IKB, I7, 16G 1TB, 80WQ006VRK

s/n LR072XRU

AMD Radeon R5 M430, Intel HD Graphics 620

Win 10 Pro

Re: V510-15IKB Laptop Freeze

Issue is not related to AMD drivers as I have Intel only video and the freezing occurs. I think it's related to videocard frequency scaling but I'm not able to lock it with any program. The weird thing is that the first two months since buying of the laptop there hasn't been any freezing at all. I think after a Windows update it started to occur.

@Su123

Nope, I don't insist on AMD causing freezing. I just share the info to discuss.

What I had before:

1) lap freezing randomly (once a week or 3 times a day or..... etc.)

2) fan running at high speeds from time to time

3) CPU loading going up

4) laptop slowing down

Now it's more or less ok (p. 2 - not quite). I do not know the reasons(( No can I attribute the problem to any soft or hardware 100%.

It looks like it's video-related, but I am not sure.

@lar2 keep us updated how long it goes without a crash, I'm very curious, (also - how often it was crashing before?)

@davidowsky. So far so good. No freeze until now, but it is too early to say. I used to have freezes, randomly between 1 per day max to 1 per week min. A remark: When i had the freezes, I have noticed that right at the moment a freeze is happening, there was a single , short, flickering on the screen, and then freeze. With the current BIOS, I have also seen this flickering and I thought that a freeze is going to happen. But it simply goes away without freeze. For any news, I will post here.

Hi,

Could you please, if possible, check it when you have 2 monitors?

I try to get used to freezes now and then when i use single (laptop's own) monitor but when i have another monitor attached i have like 15+ freezes everyday so i can not use duo monitors.

Re: V510-15IKB Laptop Freeze

After downgrading my BIOS to version 2WCN28RS, I confirm that there was no freeze or other problem during a week of 70 hours operation. Tested dual display via HDMI, full load gaming, video and IDE software. All power options are set to default. I have tested all other versions of BIOS and no one had gone so far without freeze. I believe that the 2WCN28RS "skips" the freezes. I have seen that there is a random, momentary flick on the screen which used to be followed by a freeze with the other BIOS versions. But in the 2WCN28RS, no freeze happens. Regards.

v310-15IKB

Intel i5-7200U

8GB RAM

Dual Graphics:

1) AMD Radeon R5 M430 (BIOS Version 015.049.000.012)

2) Intel HD 620

Hello dear friend,

Thank you so much for letting us know the results. Much appreciated.

Now it's Lenovo's turn to see this bios version and apply it as a hotfix and newer bios version so everybody can get it even if they don't follow this thread.

I hope somebody will convey these messages to their notice once again.
