The solution is to stay with the 28RS bios version. There is a trick to prevent Windows from updating your BIOS to a freezing version: A BIOS installation cannot be done if the laptop is disconnected from the power adapter.

So, always unplug your laptop from power before turning it on after a shut down.

ANSWER UPDATE: I don't wnow about E550, this thread is for V510/V310 15IKB.

Re: V510-15IKB Laptop Freeze

I had been using the 2WCN28RS BIOS for several months without a single freezing. Recently, I decided to install the latest BIOS , version 2WCN44W, just to try and see, if it contains a fix for the freezing problem. The 28RS just worked fine, but I was just curious about the new one....

Unfortunately... the 2WCN44W DOES NOT fix the freezing problem. The freezing came back like a nightmare.

The worst part is, that, this bios version DOES NOT allow you to go back to any previous  bios version, including the 28RS version. After trying to flash back an earlier version, it shows the following message:

Error: Region numbers are not equal. Image has 23 regions and ROM has 24 regions

Error 217. BIOS layout does not match!

Lenovo guys and girls, please, this is unacceptable! Lenovo does not allow back flash of their own BIOS? Still not a solution for the freezing problem? This is unbelieavable and so disappointing from such a famous company.

PLEASE FIX THIS.

Re: V510-15IKB Laptop Freeze

Lenovo solved the problem very badly.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad that also freezes randomly. Having researched the issue extensively (since Lenovo support are no help) this seems to be a relatively common issue that afflicts certain configurations of Ideapad and Yoga laptops. People have tried different display drivers, BIOS versions, etc, but the reality is that there are no known solutions. If your computer is under warranty I recommend asking Lenovo for a refund. They are a very bad company that don't collect statistics on their repairs (if they did they would know this is an issue that they can't fix) and will therefore try to force you to send it in for multiple repairs. They will treat each repair as if it is the first time they have ever seen an issue like it. My laptop has been in and out of their repair centre for the last 4 months and the issue is still not resolved. I have had to buy another computer because I needed one for my business. I still do not know if Lenovo will honour their obligations under the warranty. I have lost a significant amount of time and money in the whole process which I will never get back. If you like you can give them one chance to fix it and when they don't (notice I said "when" and not "if") you should demand a refund and buy a laptop from a reputable brand.

Hello to you all!

I tried the 28RS bios, and the freezing has gone, but windows 10 always updates it to 29ww . Is there a way to disable the bios updates?

As i have posted, the only workaround to this is to unplug your laptop from the adapter befor you Shut Down, Start or Reboot . The BIOS updates do not install if the system detects power adapter not plugged in.
