V570 'unauthorized battery'

2017-03-20, 20:10 PM

Recently purchased a V570 laptop lightly used, preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium,
with original battery.
Energy Management  program  icon in tray said  'no battery installed',
when it was !
I downloaded a different version of Energy Management (after deleting the other)--with the
intention and hope of using the 'Power Management Options' utility  that I have with my
other laptop, a G580.

The download was successful, save for the fan dust extractor missing (ggrrrr)...but the
battery-life  option setting (59%)  WILL NOT HOLD, and in 'battery info' it says  'unauthorized
battery'.... when it is definitely the original battery.
Now I'm not even sure it's charging,
as the previously indicated charge of 100% is now  is now showing 99% .

I want to get a battery power-saving setting !
What's going on here?

It is impossible to know without seeing it, but it is possible that the electronics in the battery has died.
