Video wake-up problem 3000 N200 0769 CWM (XP Pro)

2008-03-27, 4:36 AM
So here's the thing - When my laptop is running on batteries I have it setup so that the monitor turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity to save power.  Whenever the screen actually does turn off for this reason I am unable to wake it back up again by typing or moving the mouse.  Please note that the computer is still ON at this stage, the screen just is black.  In order to get back to work I have to close the laptop (to activate standby) then open it again to give it a proper "wake-up".

Has anyone else had this problem?  It doesn't seem to happen when I'm plugged in.

As the subject line sugests I'm running XP Pro on a 3000 N200 0769CWM.  Am eagerly awaiting a bios update on the off-chance that it fixes the problem but would also appreciate anyone else's advice on the matter.

PS: Sorry for my other blank post - don't know how I managed that exactly ....

My new 3000 N200 with XP Pro has begun to act similarly in the last week. Previously Fn+F4 went into Sleep normally, then Fn awakened it. Now nothing seems to waken it. I have to shut off the computer and reboot.

I thought it might be related to the Wake On LAN (WOL) issue seen on Microsoft's website, but it doesn't sound quite the same, and I'm reluctant to try Lenovo's fix for that without the symptoms being exactly the same.

I also thought it might be related to the Power Settings for Sleep and Hibernate, but can't quite tell what the Lenovo support site is saying about that problem either - but it seems to be tied to Vista and I'm on XP Pro.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have the same problem, with wake up my monitor after its turn black.

It happens while my computer is plugged to electricity.

So I have to restart my computer every time it happen.

It always happen when the screen if open, never when it's folded.

I have 3000 N200 Lenovo laptop, with XP.

If someone found an answer to that I will be very happy to hear ....

Thank you very much,

Orit

Hello,
Press down and hold the ..... POWER-ON BUTTON....... for 1-2 seconds....**ONLY**. Now move your mouse back and forth. This should wake the laptop and start your LCD screen.

Thanks Train500, I tried this today but it didn't work.  Wound up closing the laptop to put it into stand-by so that I could wake it up again by opening it.  Don't know why this is happening but it's pretty annoying!
