n200 won't boot, won't even goto post/bios.

2009-01-02, 5:56 AM

Hi, I experienced some graphical errors,

so I decided to boot my 3000 n200. (just over a year old).

The backlight on the laptop turns on, I can hear the fan go,

but nothing happens, doesn't even show the lenovobios sign or anything, just hangs.

Does anyone have an idea on what to do.

thanks in advance

What is the graphics card in your laptop.

So i am getting that your laptop no longer post correctly right???

It could be the graphics card somehow is broken. Have you tried to connect it to an external screen or anything???? have a try...

It doesn't event start post,

no beeps no anything.

Just the backlight.

I tried plugging my extern monitor to the vga output.

This is the same.

The graphic card is a nvidia go 7300.

Can I try something, anything?

The logical conclusion from what you are saying is that your motherboard is stuffed, do you still have warranty??? If not you are in for a very expensive repair, probably full replacement with a new laptop is cheaper.

Thanks that's what I feared.

I'm abit disappointed by the lifetime of this device though 12months, 2 weeks.

I bought a thinkpad r40 in 2004 I think,

this still works perfectly, and was the main reason I bought a lenovo the last time.

Are the 3000 minimum quality compared to the thinkpad series?

I guess the not so nice looking plastic look of the cheaper laptops last longer in the end.

12 months and 2 weeks??? That seems to be a close call for a total failure. I wish one of the administrator can somehow pitch in for you and get a free repair for you......

One of the lesson you learn with this sort of thing, is to get a 3 year warranty rather than 1 year, i found that most of laptops with one year all develop problems right after warranty expires, but those laptops with 3 year warranty don't never seem to fail.....

then again my one year warranty laptops are all from other manufacturers, and while my 3 year warranty laptop are all Thinkpads.....
