3000 C200 not seeing battery

I have a 3000 C200 laptop running WinXP. Got it from a co-worker so I don't have a history with it to answer many questions. I updated the OS, downloaded and installed all the drivers and support programs. The problem is that the laptop doesn't see the battery, and won't charge it. I though there was something wrong with the original battery so I got a new one from Ebay, but it doesn't see that one either, and will not charge it. The laptop runs fine on the A.C. adapter, but if I unplug it the machine just dies.

 

So am I doing something wrong, is there a trick here or a part of the laptop that can be replaced to cure this (I see inverter boards for sale on Ebay).

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

 

I’m sorry to hear that your C200 is not able to detect the new battery and running on AC Adapter, also turn’s OFF when the AC Adapter is removed. This may be the issue with the Battery contact, instead of changing the inverter board, I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance. Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number, I’m sure they will be a great help.

I've cleaned the contacts on the computer with some fine sandpaper, and computer is still not able to see 2 different battery packs. Is it safe to say that I need a new inverter board?
