While writing sometimes the cursor jumps a line or two up and continues.
it also happened on Vista. Now I am on 7 and same problem.
I am not hitting the touchpad. Seems to be more often when writing fast like the old typewriter jamming up the letter arms. Quite hilarious.
Some say it's the Synaptic touchpad, but I can't see it installed as I overwrote the Lenovo Vista with 7. Still the touchpad pointer still works.

I am having the same problem, though it bounces all over the place. It just jumped back to the word "having"! It seems to be worsening. Does anyone have a solution? I work at a corporation and am thinking of recommending we not use Lenovo, at least the 500 series.

try setting "Tap Off When Typing" in your "Mouse" settings...it helps a LOT for me, but i'm not sure it solves the problem totally...i have friends who have different brands of notebooks and they have the same problem.

Mine is under the "Tapping" tab in Mouse Properties. In a "Typing" section: "Tap Off when Typing"
Since i use an external mouse 99% of the time, i also have turned off "Tapping" - that lets me use the buttons on the touchpad to type, but not the touchpad itself (can still use it to move the cursor, though).
This all has seemed to help and makes my computer actually USABLE!

There is no such menu or entries on my system.
I am using Windows 7 and looking under Mouse in the Control Panel and looked for an icon and entry in the taskbar.
I have no way to get to this option,
