BIOS Update

Hi,

If you own Lenovo V310-15IKB, DO NOT UPDATE THE BIOS to 2WCN44WW/04 Dec 2019 as it will become unusable!!!!!

All the best!

Re: BIOS Update

Hi Calin_Popa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you mind sharing exactly what issues came up when you tried updating to the newer BIOS version of this machine?

Hope this helps.
Regards,

Re: BIOS Update

Hi,

As I said it become unusable.

No screen image, no boot options, Just ventilator working after several seconds.

Recovery button starts it but same behavior.

Charging/discharging working but discharging to 0 and restart useless.

Message, after BIOS update under Windows 10, everything OK.

I took it into a service and the guys told me is the second one today, same model, same issue after bios update.

It is still under warranty, I am curious who will cover the recovery expenses if there will be a solution to recover.

Re: BIOS Update

Hi Calin_Popa,

Thanks for the information.

Since the machine is still covered under warranty you can use this link to contact Lenovo Helpdesk for your country of residence.

If you are still able to boot into the system via safe mode or access the BIOS you can enable the BIOS backflash option to open up the possibility of a downgrade to an older version of the BIOS.

Hope this helps.

Re: BIOS Update

Hi,

No, is not possible as long as the screen is black forever (not Microsoft blue....). So Helpdesk is useless.

Neither BIOS or OS are accessible.

Downgrade for BIOS should be done by other methods, if they exists, but they are not not under my control, especially under warranty.

Re: BIOS Update

I have exactly the same symptoms after updating a V510-15ikb laptop and updating the bios December 4, 2019 reference 2WCN44WW.

My laptop is no longer covered by the warranty and has become completely unusable.
No screen, no keyboard reaction, only the fan works.

It is shameful

Lenovo should remove this update and provide repair tools even if the warranty has expired.

Re: BIOS Update

Hi Francois,

I am sorry that my alarm was confirmed.

With or without warranty Lenovo have to provide free support for repair/recovery.

We only used what they provided. And is marked as critical.

Hope to hear good news soon.

All the best!

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
