Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my E31-70. After powering on my ssd is not recognized and i get the message:

Default boot device missing or boot failed.

Insert recovery media and hit any key

...

After warm reset (ctrl+alt+del) the ssd is recognized and boot process runs normal.

machine type is: 80KX006GRI

bios version: AFCN30WW (V2.02)

ec version: AFEC30WW (V2.02)

ssd is Intel 520 (120G)

Re: E31-70 ssd detect problem

Hi Mihai,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

The drive takes a little too long to initialize on a cold boot and BIOS times out before detecting it.  On a reboot it never power cycles so it doesn't have to go through its cold boot power up sequence.

Had a similar problem with a Crucial SSD until I updated the firmware. This might be a good question for Intel 520 too.

Let us know if it helps.

Regards,

Shashi
