HDMI stopped working on Lenovo v110

[ Edited ]

So ive encountered a recuring problem with my V110 laptop. The HDMI port on the computer is sometimes not working. Usually it takes a couple of hours each time to get it working again but im getting annoyed that this is a requrring problem. (general things ive done is make sure the HDMI ports on tv works, changed hdmi cable, changed computer ect to verify its a problem with the V110)

Generally the HDMI port stops working after either windows updates, or software installs, however this time it did not work to roll back any updates or uninstall any programs. Ive disabeled and re-enabled graphics drivers, updated graphics drivers, rolled back a windows sequrity update that came into play 13th/14th of sep. 2017.

Nothing shows up under display adapter in device manager, and ive tried many of the suggestied fixes on different forum posts to no solution.

I'm fresh out of ideas. Anyone have any suggestions before i just reinstall windows in hope that no updates will screw over the HDMI port?

Re: HDMI stopped working on Lenovo v110

Hello Truls1801

Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.

(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)
1. Turn the unit off
2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter
3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter
5. Turn the unit on as normal

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Re: HDMI stopped working on Lenovo v110

Thank you very much.

I think the static charge could be a cause of the recurring problem, which perhaps could make sense.

Although I did not try this solution, because the problem "fixed" itself by shutting the computer completely off because I went to bed and the day after it miraculously fixed itself, I presume there could be a problem with stactic.

Are there any ways to prevent static on the motherboard? Usually i set the computer to sleep/hibernate when I'm done with the session, would shutting the computer completely off help?

Any other recommendation would be greatly appreciated, as this has been really annoying.

Re: HDMI stopped working on Lenovo v110

Well, static generally just comes from pretty much any sort of friction really.

Some materials of cloth or fabric would cause more static to be generated than others, things like walking on carpet with socks on for example.

This is pretty much what it is:

Glad the issue is resolved for now.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.
