I have a Lenovo 3000, N100. One day it stopped working with the battery in it. That is, it would not work, whether it was plugged into a wall socket or not, if the battery was installed.
I bought a new battery. Same thing. Sent the new one back and got a replacement. But still, it will not use the battery.
Here's what happens (I just tried so I'd know the sequence): The computer's working fine, plugged into the wall, with no battery installed. I install the battery, and the Lenovo shuts down immediately.
With the battery in place and the AC still connected, I push the power button. The power light next to it lights up green. The battery status and standby lights on the front light up green. Nothing else happens. After a while, the battery status and standby lights start flashing orange. Then they go back to green again. But the computer never starts.
I have to remove the battery, then push the power button, to get the computer to start.
Are we talking big expensive repair here? What happened? Could I have overheated the old battery and thus fried something in the laptop?
