How to find my model number?

2010-09-27, 17:49 PM

I don't know about you guys but the label on the back of my notebook is confusing. I am trying to register my notebook but when it ask for model number i don't know what to write. I understand that is cheaper to made stuff in china but come on!

I will post a photo with the label so you can point that out for me and others like me.

Thanks.

PS: The model name i was told is not it (is to short or something).

Re: How to find my model number?

Hmmm...but i give you that number and you said is not it "your model number supposed to be like xxx-xxxxxx ( 59-033551 )".

And on the registration site "Please use the seven character alphanumeric number located on your computer ID label and do not include the dash"

From the link you give me:

How is my product number used?

The product number is used to find specific information about your product on the Support and downloads site. The product number can also be used by the Support Center to provide technical assistance for your product.

  • 7 character product number (machine type and model)
  • 7 or 12 character serial number
  • 10 character serial number

What seven character number???  I am still confused. Please elaborate if you know more.

I found this http://www.lenovo.com/social_responsibility/us/en/Lenovo_G555_TED.pdf

Here the model number is M/T:20045, 0873 i don't know if its relevant.

LE: I can't register my notebook, this is very frustrating.

LE: Yes my type number is 2004-5 but with this number i can't register the product. What should i do???

Check in BIOS (press F2 at Lenovo boot screen)
On my N100, Product Name-first 7 numbers/letters match my Type. May be the same on yours?

Re: How to find my model number?

In my BIOS it dosen't show the type number, only the SN. But now i'm sure is 20045 because i found a tool on lenovo site who automatically detects your machine specs ( type number, serial number etc.). The problem is that i can't register my notebook on lenovo's product registration page because it requires 7 alphanumeric characters at type number field.
