Re: Lenovo 3000 N100 Product: 3000 N100 0768-BPG no sound !!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!

Recently I had to reformat the hard disk on my Lenovo 3000 N100 0768BPG Laptop.

On re-installing Windows XP I also encountered the problem that the internal speakers appeared not to work - although sound could be heard by using headphones.

I went through everything previously posted on a number of sites concernig this problem - all to no avail.

The situation remained the same for several months - and then, this last weekend I tried again. This time my efforts were successful !!!

This is what I did:

1. Install Windows XP and ensure that all is running correctly (except the sound, of course).

2. Connect to the Internet.

3. Visit the Microsoft Download Website and download and install :   .Net2 Framework (i.e. the file 'dotnetfx.exe')

4. From the Lenovo website:

                                                                        download and install 'Directx9.0c' (i.e. 'directx_nov2008_redist.exe)

download and install the UAA HDA driver (i.e. kb888111xp2en.exe)

download and install the REALTEK AUDIO DRIVER v 5.10.0.5464

                                                                                                                                           (i.e. 63ar14ww.exe)

Having done all this, the sound on my Laptop would STILL not work.

So now for the clever part !

5.  From the Lenovo website:                            download and install the BIOS update  (i.e FLASH)

Once this folder is downloaded, open it up and  'Flash' the updates for BOTH the ADI  and REALTEK

Then look at the BIOS Update Folder again and run the program entitled 'REALTEK AdDrvLdr'

This will load the 'SOUNDMAX' program. Allow this program to run  - and your internal speakers will come back to life !!!

I hope that this sequence of events will prove useful to those with Audio problems on the Lenovo 3000 N100 Laptop.

Regards

Re: Lenovo 3000 N100 Product: 3000 N100 0768-BPG no sound !!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!

I have a 3000 n100 0768: Backup R&R "lost" 60% of my hard drive space; after lots of work had no choice but to re-build system from scratch: after lots more work and 3 re-builds, could not get SOUND back. After LOTS of searching, finally got this "FIX" for sound and it WORKED! Thanks TONS for posting your SOLUTION! Maybe someday I can repay the favour by helping someone else out Smiley Happy

Re: Lenovo 3000 N100 Product: 3000 N100 0768-BPG no sound !!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!

Hi

I got lost in the flash part, which utility you are talking about. On Lenovo website there is one that is BIOS update utility (63af08us.exe) and the other is FLASH BIOS update (bootbale diskette version) 2djt13a.exe.

"Once this folder is downloaded, open it up and  'Flash' the updates for BOTH the ADI  and REALTEK

Then look at the BIOS Update Folder again and run the program entitled 'REALTEK AdDrvLdr'

This will load the 'SOUNDMAX' program. Allow this program to run  - and your internal speakers will come back to life !!!"

Can you please a bit explicit about the procedure and if you can kindly name(or give the link) to  the flash utility.

Appreciate your help

Re: Lenovo 3000 N100 Product: 3000 N100 0768-BPG no sound !!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!

Unlike most people here, let me state my exact hardware and software. I have a Lenovo 3000 n100
0698-28u with Windows 7 SP1 32bit. My audio in AIDA64 is listed as an Analog Devices AD1986A @
Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - High Definition Audio Controller [B-0] PCI (SoundMAX).

1. All I did was download the driver from this address:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/61ae03ww.exe

Note: In the future if they remove this link, just search Google for "61ae03ww.exe".

2. Extract "61ae03ww.exe" using 7zip or Winrar or just run the executable and it will extract to
the default directory of "C:\Drivers\WIN\Audio".

3. Go to "C:\Drivers\WIN\Audio" and right click on setup.exe and select properties.

4. Now under the "Compatibility" tab look for the "Compatibility Mode" section and check "Run
this program in compatibility mode for". Select "Windows 200" (yes, Windows 2000, I know
right...).

5. Apply the edited selections and now run "setup.exe" in the folder as normal. Hopefully this
got you working.

Now obviously this has been tested solely for the specified hardware and software
listed above, but this method may work on the 32bit version of Windows 8 also (select Windows XP
SP3 under compatibility). Please try this method before you try some of the more absurd "fixes"
like renaming hdaudio.sys files and stuff (if this fix fails for you, why not try). Please post
if this works and let us all know the hardware and OS you are running.

Re: Lenovo 3000 N100 Product: 3000 N100 0768-BPG no sound !!!!!!!!???!!!!!!!!!

I used windows 7 compatibility mode.  I also had to force install at a number of points.  But it worked.

And we're back...

Move delayed but still coming
