Lenovo 3000 N200 Strange Keyboard Problem

2009-06-09, 10:54 AM

Hi,

I'm reporting the same problem as this user back in February of this year

http://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=N_Series_Lenovo_3000&message.id=10751

I have exactly the same problem - I have owned my N200 for 12 months and 20 days (so just out of warranty!) and now I have a problem with the keyboard. 8 keys - the TAB, CAPSLK, Left Shift, Backspace, T, Y, [, ] won't work in BIOS or after I have booted in to Windows (XP SP2) but an external USB keyboard works fine. The problem was intermittent in the morning but then I couldn't get these keys to work at all. After reading the above post I tried holding down the backspace key - and yes it resolved the problem for a while.

I can understand a keyboard fault but not how holding down the backspace key for a while can resolve this!

Please help

Hi,

I am facing the same laptop keyboard problem :(

Few keys do not work if I keep pressing them for a while they work again or if I strike hard with my finger they work too.

Sometimes I just reboot the laptop and everything is fine.

My laptop just passed the warrenty period and I have this problem ! I udated BIOS and it was perfect after the update but again next reboot the machine is just the same... keys not working....

I HAVE NEVER SPILLED ANYTHING NEITHER DROPPED MY LAPTOP..

Is there any solution driver update etc...

Cheers & thanks for help

Hi,

Possible, keyboard flexycable connection (in Keyboard or on MB.)  on motherboard migth have some crack or need to be re-solder again. You need to show technician. If you can do it, use a magnifier glasses and check the roads on board. Other than that it is control chip problem.
