Lenovo 3000 N200 problem - possibly harddrive

Hello. First time posting here so any help would be great! I have a lenovo 3000 N200 laptop which is roughly 3 years old. Recently it has been constantly freezing and then bluescreening. I have run various scans and couldn't find anything. 2 days ago I wiped it clean to start again. It ran fine for about a day but now windows won't even boot. Someone has suggested to me that it is the harddrive and that I need a new one. But... If I did this, then I need the recovery discs. I don't have the recovery discs or a windows disc. So... If I bought a new harddrive and then a new windows would this resolve the problem? I gather the recovery discs are to recover windows and lenovo software? If so I'm not bothered about all that so that's why I've suggested buying windows. Any advice would be great. Thank you. P.s. Would this harddrive be suitable for my laptop? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B002CPP0LA/ref=mp_s_a_25?qid=1291477287&sr=8-25

Re: Lenovo 3000 N200 problem - possibly harddrive

it's too early to say it's hard disc, could be ram, main-board or something else.

when you see lenovo logo press f8 to load safe mode and if it loads, check system logs for errors

( right click my computer > manage > event logs )

post back the results.

make sure your rams works properly.

you can test it with memtest  or windows memory check.

Re: Lenovo 3000 N200 problem - possibly harddrive

ran windows memory diagnostic and it detected no errors... does any of this suggest it could be the hard drive?

thanks for the help so far, appreciated.

Re: Lenovo 3000 N200 problem - possibly harddrive

remove the battery, remove the ram sticks/swap it, replace the battery and try again.

also, to check your issue is related to graphic card, if you have external monitor, use it.

Re: Lenovo 3000 N200 problem - possibly harddrive

Managed to run disc checker and it's froze on stage 4 of 5, verifying file data at 15%

*edit* it is running... Just taking a while. Will post results once completed
