Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Hello, I was wondering if i can perform a ram upgrade on my laptop model.
Currently I have 8GB RAM DDR4, but I want to buy 2 sticks of 8GB RAM for a total of 16GB RAM ( https://www.emag.ro/memorie-laptop-kingston-hyperx-impact-8gb-ddr4-2400mhz-cl14-1-2v-hx424s14ib2-8/p... )
I put a link of the stick I desire to buy.
Is this possible on my laptop model?
Thank you Smiley Very Happy

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Hi MrVinti1,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Your systemboard may have soldered 4GB on it with PN 5M30K59778 4GB D4 S M471A5143EB0-CPB RAM on a single slot offered to it. So installing 2 sticks may not be possible if you have not physically checked your ram slots yet.

Read this discussion for additional details regarding max ram possible. 12GB is recommended by OEM for motherboard with soldered ram (4GB soldered + 8 GB replacing the other).

The stick you desire to buy can work but the OEM RAM parts are the ones recommended so check return options just in case.

I hope this helps answer your query.

Update us how it goes best for you.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

I saw the specifications here:
https://www.emag.ro/laptop-lenovo-v310-15isk-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-6200u-2-30-ghz-skylaketm-1...
Also all the other sites having the same model say the same thing about the ram slots.
You can use google translate for it. At the specifications part, it says it has 2 memory slots, and each one occupied by 4gb ram, but it says nothing about one of them being soldered. Is there any way i can find out exactly if i have a soldered slot? I already ordered those, as black friday was ending and I hope I don't have to return one of them Smiley Very Happy

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Hi MrVinti1,

From official manufacturer documentation

Product specification sheet shows:

16GB max / 2133MHz DDR4, dual-channel capable, optional 4GB memory soldered to systemboard, one DDR4 SO-DIMM socket.

Hardware manual indicates • DDR4-2133 MHz, SODIMM × 1, (max: 4 GB (on board) + 4 GB (on select models))

Other sites may have counted soldered slots too like how softwares would. Since you are planning on upgrading it then physically check the slot and same goes with the current 4GB ram on it. The hardware manual can help in reference for the steps.

Update us soon as convenient.

Regards

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Well, the problem is that I still have 269 days left of warranty, so I can't open the notebook by myself to find out Smiley Sad

Also CPU-Z shows this:

All the other slots(3 and 4) show up as empty, too

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Hi MrVinti1,

Those are the sample software I am saying but upgrades should not void the warranty in general so I suggest you call technical support for verification so you can do it with them to check.

I use the MTM here in the parts lookup page tool to check the board image and just show I pair or RAM clip for the single slot for PN 5B20L46576 (MBQ 80SYWIN I56200U UMA OLNULT) board.

5B20L46576 V310.jpg5B20L46576.jpg

Softwares (have disclaimer to check with manufacturer) would only check the supported specification of the board but manufacturers can have it differently per designs physically.

Re: Lenovo Ideapad v310-15isk 80SY02H7RI RAM Upgrade

Hi MrVinti1,

It only have one slot for the ram as you can see and the same parts lookup page verified that the original system came with a 4GB RAM inserted on it.

This would be the same as this topic we have discussed with the link to other post.
